KeeP 106 heard on FM in Finland…j.j.just!

Naturally, any radio station which streams on the Web can be heard more or less anywhere in the world, but when it comes to the FM transmissions that’s a different matter. Our low power transmitter is designed to cover, roughly, central and southern Dorset. However, radio signals don’t just stop dead at a certain point and tend to carry on further depending on geographical and atmospheric conditions resulting in variable signal strength and audio quality.

On Saturday 6th July conditions in the upper ionosphere happened to be, for a short time, very favourable for long distance reception and KeeP 106 was picked up in Finland – a distance of over 1,200 miles! We were contacted by two guys from Finland who sent us audio examples of what they had briefly heard, albeit with a lot of interference. Rob featured this in his programme…
