On the 15 August 1945 fighting in the Far East ceased with the surrender of Japan which in effect ended the Second World War several months after VE Day. The 75th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan) will be commemorated on Saturday 15th August 2020. We were pleased to welcome Kate Green, the Overseas Area Manager for the Royal British Legion, who gave an informative interview and described what the conditions had been like for our Armed Forces still involved in bitter fighting right up until the Japanese surrender. Kate also outlines what events are taking place as part of the Royal British Legion’s commemoration…

Also listen to our recording of the VJ Day Service of Remembrance held at the Kohima Memorial in front of the Dorset Council offices at County Hall on 15th August 2020.

Please visit the Royal British Legion website for more information about VJ Day 75
