“Thank you to Keep 106. William Barnes was given the greatest Christmas coverage he has ever enjoyed. On behalf of the William Barnes Society THANK YOU”. This excellent programme prompted Brian Caddy, a member of the William Barnes Society, to send that kind message.

We broadcast this special programme on Christmas Day. It features members of The William Barnes Society in “A Christmas Invitation” – a light-hearted celebration of Christmases past based around William Barnes’ evocative and amusing seasonal poetry plus Christmas carols and songs. This is followed by seasonal songs and carols from the Ridgeway Singers and Band plus Dorset’s very own Tim Laycock. Everyone can smile, laugh and join in!

Listen to the programme, introduced and produced by Andy Worth, here:

There is also a version of “A Christmas Invitation”, wonderfully illustrated by Mark North, on YouTube here – youtube.com/watch?v=bjG0Qxv3DqI
