Praise O’ Do’set: Celebrating the life of William Barnes

Monday 22nd February 2021 was the 220th birthday of one of Dorset’s much loved sons, William Barnes. In normal times the William Barnes Society would have produced a special performance of Barnes’ poetry in a village hall somewhere. However the pandemic unfortunately put paid to that. Undaunted, the society decided to produce a one hour programme of both poetry and music, together with the story of William Barnes’ life, and present it on KeeP 106. You can now listen to the programme on the William Barnes Society website as a video presentation accompanied by some stunning images by Mark North. An enjoyable hour is guaranteed – please follow the link below to listen to the programme…

Barnes Night: Celebrating the life and work of William Barnes

Taking part: Tim Laycock, Brian Caddy, Rod Drew, Devina Symes, Sue Worth, David Strawbridge, John Blackmore, The Ridgeway Band. Narration written by Tim Laycock and spoken by Andy Venton. Recorded and produced for radio by Andy Worth.
