Merchant Navy Day celebrated at County Hall

Friday 3rd of September 2021 was a national day to remember and recognise the importance of our Merchant Navy, both past and present. Messages were sent to councils by HM The Queen and HRH the Earl of Wessex to be read out publicly. Dorset Council did this in the presence of civic dignitaries and members of Weymouth & Portland Merchant Navy, Royal Naval Associations and Weymouth Sea Cadets. Councillor Val Pothecary, Chairman of Dorset Council leads the proceedings. The final prayer was delivered by  Reverend John Yarrien from the United Church, Dorchester.
