Appeal for witnesses following serious injury collision

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury road traffic collision in West Dorset.

Dorset Police received a report at 2.22pm on Saturday 7 May 2022 relating to a single vehicle collision involving a green Kawasaki ZX motorcycle on the B3157 Coast Road at Swyre near Bridport.

Emergency services attended and the motorcyclist – a local man aged in his 30s – was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries. Following a condition update, the man’s injuries are now believed to be life-threatening. His family has been informed.

Police Constable Craig Jeffery, of the traffic unit, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I would also ask that anyone who was travelling along the B3157 Coast Road around the time of the collision to please check any dashcam footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, via email scit@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220072261.
