Witness appeal following attempted robbery in Weymouth

Officers investigating an attempted robbery in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It is reported that at around 5.40pm on Tuesday 26 July 2022 a local man aged in his 20s was walking along a path near Radipole Park Drive by Abbotsbury Swannery when he was approached by an unknown man.

The suspect demanded that the victim had over his wallet and phone. He stated that he was in possession of a knife, however no weapon was seen during the incident.

The victim ran away from the scene and did not hand over any items.

The offender is described as white, approximately six feet tall, aged in his early 20s and of slim build with ginger hair. He was wearing a black Nike tracksuit with a green fluorescent tick on the front of the top and is described as talking with a Liverpudlian accent.

Police Constable Christopher Kingsbury, of Weymouth police, said: “I am carrying out enquiries into this incident and would ask anyone who witnessed what happened to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from any member of the public who may recognise the suspect from the description given.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220121002. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
