Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the rider of the motorcycle – a Weymouth man aged in his 30s – was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with injuries that were believed to be life-threatening. His family has been made aware.
Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded and will remain on as an examination of the scene is conducted.
Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are investigating this matter to establish the full circumstances of the collision and I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident to please contact us.
“I would also urge anyone who was travelling along the A354 in the area on the evening of Friday 23 February 2024 to please review any dashcam footage to see if they have captured the collision or the motorcycle involved in the moments leading up to it.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place. These closures allow for the emergency services to safely respond and for a full examination of the scene to be conducted.”
