Single vehicle collision in Wyke Regis – appeal for information

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they investigate a road traffic collision in Weymouth.

At around 4am on Saturday 16 March 2024 a single vehicle collision occurred on Portland Road in Wyke Regis. It was reported that the vehicle involved, a grey BMW, left the carriageway and collided with a garage wall of a property.

It was further reported that the three occupants left the vehicle and were seen making off in the direction of Lyndale Road.

Officers attended and carried out searches of the area, but the occupants were not located. The vehicle has been recovered and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Sergeant Richard Symonds, of Weymouth and Portland police, said: “Our investigation is continuing, and I am keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw a vehicle matching the one described in the area prior to the incident.

“I would also urge residents or motorists who were in the vicinity to check any home CCTV systems or dashcam footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I am keen to hear from anyone who may have come across any items that appear they may have been discarded in the area, particularly in nearby gardens.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240039602. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
