Weekend Sports Report

In the National League South Weymouth came good against visitors Havant & Waterlooville in the final quarter of the game after taking an early lead from Tom Bearwish.

After the break the Terras went off the boil and conceded a Havant & Waterlooville equalizer, but following manager Bobby Wilkinson’s substitutions they raised their game scoring 3 unanswered goals, one each from Brandon Goodship with a penalty then strikes from Keelan O’Connell and Ezio Touray to make the final score the Terras 4 Hawkes 1.

Our Man at the Match said, “It was a good result for Weymouth, Havant looked dangerous at times while the score was level at 1 goal each and the result could have gone in either direction, but Weymouth kept plugging away and got their just rewards. The Terras goalkeeper Harvey Wiles-Richards made a couple of exceptional saves and kept them in the game and it had to be an own goal to beat him”.

Brandon Goodship right converted a penalty for the Terras.

Dorchester took on promotion hopefuls Salisbury at the Avenue Stadium and grabbed all 3 of the Southern Premier League points courtesy of striker Olaf Koszela who netted the only goal of the game.

Portland United travelled to Moneyfields on Friday evening, but the Blues returned to Grove Corner minus any Wessex League points losing the game by 2 goals to nil.

Bridport took the road to Plymouth to lock horns with Elburton Villa and returned to St Mary’s with a well-deserved Southwest Peninsular League East point drawing the game 2 goals each.

The Bees scored a goal either side of half time through Riley Weedon and Toby Diaz.

In the local Tribute Southern Counties League Dorchester were treated to a rugby masterclass by visitors Sherborne, the County Town just could not cope with the power play of the north Dorset side eventually going down by 10 points to 59.

In the Tribute Dorset & Wilts leagues Blandford beat North Second team away by 24 points to 10, Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew ran out 34 points to 14 winners at home against Bridport and Puddletown scored 20 points at Greenfields against Sherborne Second team with the visitors scoring 19 points in reply.
