Ceremony to mark NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day

Dorset Council is marking NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day with a flag raising ceremony at County Hall in Dorchester on Friday 5 July at 10.45am.

5th July is the national day of thanks to show gratitude to all frontline staff and critical workers, and a day to celebrate all those who have worked so tirelessly to help our country through the Coronavirus crisis, and who continue to support some of the most vulnerable people in society.

It is also a day of remembrance of those who lost their lives during this dreadful time.  The Last Post will be performed followed by a two-minute silence and the Reveille.

The ceremony at the Memorial outside County Hall will be led by Chair of the Council, Cllr Stella Jones MBE.

Representatives from various sectors – NHS, Damory, Dorset Police, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, Swanage Lifeboat, Care Dorset and officers from Dorset Council for Children and Adult Social Care will be attending the ceremony.

Dignitaries include His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Angus Campbell CVO, the High Sheriff of Dorset, Mr Anthony Woodhouse and the Mayor & Mayoress of Dorchester, Cllr Robin Potter and Mrs Val Potter.
The larger NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day Flag will also be flown over County Hall to mark this day.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Thank you NHS flag
