Dorset Police received a report at 6:40pm on Wednesday 4 September 2024 raising concerns for the welfare of a man on a roof at Dorset County Hospital.
Officers attended and attempts were made to engage with the man.
They were assisted by the fire service and the NPAS helicopter before the man was taken to safety at around 12:15am on Thursday 5 September 2024. He was given appropriate care.
The police also state that they are investigating a report that two officers were assaulted prior to the man going on to the roof.
Although the officers did not sustain serious injuries Dorset Police take all reports of assaults on emergency workers very seriously and would urge any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them.
