Countryside Matters Special 28.10.24

Jenny Devitt went to visit multi-award-winning wildlife cameraman Hugh Miles and his wife Sue at their house not far from Wimborne to talk to Hugh and see the wonderful wildlife garden that they’ve spent several decades creating from scratch on a couple of acres.

Hugh is one of the true greats of the wildlife film world:  he worked on David Attenborough’s ‘Life on Earth’, he was the first to film any number of wild creatures in their natural habitat for global tv stations (notably the BBC of course), he’s made films on Dorset’s rivers and fish for the Dorset Wildlife Trust – among others – and is a modest and unassuming man.   Now aged 82, his filming days are behind him, but the work on their wildlife garden never stops.
