Weekend Sports Preview

The Board of Directors of Weymouth Football Club have issued a statement saying that the club is parting ways with manager Mark Molesley with immediate effect commenting that “the results have not met our expectations.”

In the interim, Jason Matthews will take charge of first-team fixtures while the club searches for a new manager.

The statement concludes by thanking Mark for his efforts and wishing him every success in the future.

Terras’ Manager, Mark Molesley, has parted company with the club following a string of poor results.

The Terras senior men’s team, now under the temporary management of their former goalkeeper and manager Jason Mathews, must put Tuesday evening’s 4 goals to-1 defeat at the Bob Lucas Stadium at the hands of Turo City behind them on Saturday when the Terras host Tonbridge Angels.

The Angels are currently in 14 place in the National League South table; however, they have only played 16 matches, whereas the Terras are deep in relegation trouble, 23rd in the table with 12 points from 18 outings and 5 points below Salisbury and league safety.

Dorchester have a Southern Premier League Derby at the New Cuthbury against Wimborne Town. Portland United ake the road into Wiltshire to play Downton at the Brian Whitehead Sport’s Stadium for a Wessex Premier League fixture, and Bridport have a Southwest Peninsular League Cup tie at Newquay, a trip that, according to club spokesman Adrian Scadding, will cost the club £900.

On Sunday, Weymouth Women’s team play hosts to Saltash at the BLS, Bridport Ladies team play Cheddar Ladies at St. Mary’s while their reserves visit Poole Borough, with those matches kicking off at 2:00pm.

In the local Tribute rugby leagues, Dorchester host Corsham at Coburg Road, and Swanage & Wareham entertain Walcot at Bestwall, both in the Southern Counties Division.

In the Dorset & Wilts division, Weymouth & Portland will hold a minute’s silence before their game against Oakmeadians at Monmouth Avenue in honour of their former player Denis Harvey, who recently passed away.

Bridport play Swanage & Wareham second team in the same division at Brewery Field, and Puddletown hosts Blandford at Greenfields also in the Dorset & Wilts League.
