Weekend Sports Report

Another Saturday and another defeat for Weymouth Football Club’s men’s team, this time away at Farnborough, where they went down by 3 goals to nil, leaving them propping up the National League South league table in 24th place with remaining games running out in order to secure their place in the division and 13 points adrift from safety.

Sotonterra summed it up, writing on the Terras’s Fan’s Forum, “The End of April cannot come quick enough. Get this season in the bin”.

Our Man at the Match said: “It was an even first half, but after the break, the Terras conceded two quick goals, and it was a good night, Vienna, and there was no way back into the game for Weymouth.

Dorchester, however, travelled into Devon to play Plymouth Parkway, and an Olaf Koszela double ensured the Magpies returned to the Avenue Stadium with all 3 Southern Premier League points, winning the game by 2 goals to 1.

Portland United failed to trouble the scoreboard operator, losing at Grove Corner against Cowes Sports 3-nil, and Bridport’s match at Crediton fell victim to the weather and was postponed, but the Bees Development Squad beat visitors Merley by 4 goals to 2. Ali Kamara scored twice for the Bridport, with Ryan Gay and Sam Day scoring a goal each.

The Dorset & Wilts County Under 18 Girls Rugby squad travelled to Maidenhead on Sunday to play their Berkshire counterparts and won the game by 31 points to 15.
