Witness appeal following reported assaults in Weymouth

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a report that two people were assaulted in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at around 1am on Saturday 15 February 2025 of a disturbance in St Edmund Street involving a group of people.

An 18-year-old man was reportedly assaulted and sustained a fractured skull. An 19-year-old man also sustained facial injuries but did not require immediate medical treatment.

Officers attended and, following detailed enquiries, a 21-year-old man and five male teenagers – aged between 14 and 18 – were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. They have all been released on police bail as investigative work continues.

Detective Constable Mia-Isabella Bowditch, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please report it to us.

“We understand there were a number of people in the area at the time and I would like to hear from any witnesses or anyone who has captured relevant footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250022427. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
