Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a caravan on fire on Glue Hill.
Initially two crews, one from Sturminster Newton and one from Sherborne fire stations were in Sturminster Newton.
On arrival crews located the caravan on fire which was situated near to a thatched property, extra crews were initially requested due to the risk. Crews engaged in removing and cutting away the thatch to create a fire break with the use of an Aerial Ladder platform from the neighbouring crews at Yeovil station.
The caravan was completely destroyed by the fire and good progress was made to save the thatched property. Overall 11 fire engines attended, a Command support unit, an Aerial Ladder Platform and an Environmental Protection unit.
