Larmer Tree festival announce details of this summer’s comedy line-up

Larmer Tree Festival has today confirmed details of this year’s late-night comedy line-up, which is headlined by Josie Long and Nish Kumar.
Josie Long is one of the most respected and distinctive talents on the comedy circuit. Long’s most recent show Something Better completed two sold-out weeks at London’s Soho Theatre and was filmed for an hour-long BBC special. A multi-faceted talent, Long is also the writer and presenter of Radio 4’s Short Cuts and investigated the growth of online comedy for BBC2’s The Culture Show. She also wrote and starred in the 2018 film Super November, which was described by The Guardian as “half mumblecore relationship comedy, half dystopian nightmare.”
Joining her is critically acclaimed comedian, host of The Mash Report and panel show favourite Nish Kumar. His current show It’s In Your Nature to Destroy Yourselves takes its title from a line in Terminator 2 and promises “jokes about politics, mankind’s capacity for self-destruction and whether it will lead to the end of days.” Time Out described his performances as “intelligent, inventive, thought-provoking and delivered with a passion, urgency, and enthusiasm that makes an hour feel like a fantastic ten minutes.”
The bill also features Stuart Goldsmith, who’s hosting a live recording of the hit podcast The Comedian’s Comedian with guest Rob Auton, and Jessica Fostekew, a regular co-host of The Guilty Feminist and the creator of Hoovering, the podcast about eating, all MC’d by Laura Lexx, who has been nominated for Best Compere at the Chortle Comedy Awards for each of the last three years.
Ivo Graham is the youngest ever winner of the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny award for new acts at the Edinburgh Fringe and a self-confessed “apologetic Eton and Oxford alumnus.” Also featuring is Catherine Bohart, a hotly-tipped rising talent whose debut solo show Immaculate told the autobiographical story of her life as the bisexual, OCD daughter of a Catholic deacon. Finally, Colin Hoult (Derek, Murder in Successville) will also be on MC duties in the role of the savagely-witty veteran actress Anna Mann.
In addition to the late-night shows, the comedy line-up will be completed by a special Edinburgh preview show each day. There’ll be performances from the UK-based Japanese comedian Yuriko Kotani; innovative and absurdist humour from John Luke-Roberts; Sarah Keyworth mixes anecdotal storytelling about her Midlands upbringing with a surrealist edge and Rob Auton’s offbeat style finds engaging humour in seemingly mundane subjects.
Today also brings a number of further additions to Larmer Tree’s music lineup. Scottish folk-pop quartet Tide Lines and cinematic alt-goth band Curse Of Lono join the bill alongside London Astrobeat Orchestra, Anna Leone, Jerry Williams, Boca 45, Didirri, Supersonicdisco, Blick Bassy, J.S. Ondara, Jeramiah Ferrari and KIOKO.
For 28 incredible years, Larmer Tree Festival has been throwing the ultimate family-friendly summer party in the heart of the Wiltshire/Dorset countryside – hosting an eclectic lineup of music, comedy, theatre, arts and crafts workshops, and more – and this year is set to be no different.
Taking place under the huge skies of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from 18-21 July, the 29th edition of Larmer Tree Festival has already announced an enviable line-up for 2019, with headliners Kate Tempest, The Cat Empire, Jack Savoretti and The Shires joined by an eclectic array of vital artists including Gomez, KT Tunstall, Let’s Eat Grandma and GoGo Penguin.
2019 will also feature Larmer Tree’s first ever cinema tent, showing everything from retro comedy classics to quirky indie gems. It promises to be the perfect retreat for teens as well as a chilled-out venue for everyone else.
