Prince of Wales School to host 2019 Dorset: Google for Education Conference

A school in Dorchester which operates a cloud-first approach to the use of digital technologies in the classroom will soon be hosting a regional Google for Education Conference in association with C-Learning (Cloud Learning Specialists). The Prince of Wales School, Maiden Castle Road, Dorchester is a Google for Education ‘Reference School’ – a prestigious title that recognises the school’s use of technology in the classroom to positively impact the education of all its pupils.

Headteacher at the school, Mr. Gary Spracklen explains; “Being a Google Reference School means we are part of a select group of schools and colleges. Being part of the Google Reference Schools program means that our use of G Suite throughout the school and our good practice in utilising its tools can be referenced and displayed to offer support to other schools. We are able to provide training opportunities for colleagues and will continue to work closely with Google in supporting the use, development and deployment of future technologies for use in schools”.

Mr. Spracklen adds, “We will be hosting the 2019 Dorset: Google for Education Conference here at The Prince of Wales School on Tuesday 30th April, 2019. On the day, delegates from other schools will be invited to find out more about how we are using Google for Education tools to support learning and also speak with a number of industry experts to see how they can best be supported to adopt cloud technologies in the classroom. The day will include hands-on demonstrations of the latest technologies including Augmented and Virtual Reality Headsets, Jamboard display technologies and the very latest in Chrome OS devices”.

Mr. Ian Nairn, Managing Director of C-learning – a Google Premier Education Partner said “Sharing of good practice is an extremely powerful way in which school leaders and teachers can learn from each other. The Prince of Wales School team continue to share their own experiences as they innovate their delivery of teaching and learning using a growing range of Cloud based services helping reduce teacher workload, improve communications between teachers, students and parents, saving money and making a real difference for their students. We are extremely proud to support the school and this conference.
