Witness appeal following collision in Dorchester

Officers investigating a serious injury road traffic collision in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.21pm on Tuesday 30 April 2019 of a two vehicle road traffic collision at the traffic light junction of Kings Road and London Road.

The collision involved an orange KTM motorcycle and a white Scania heavy goods vehicle.

Emergency services attended the scene and the motorcyclist, a man aged in his 80s from the Blandford area, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be serious but not life-threatening or life-changing.

The driver of the heavy goods vehicle was not injured.

Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to carry out their work and for an examination of the scene. The closures were lifted shortly before 11pm.

Police Sergeant Craig Tatton, of the traffic unit, said: “We are carrying out an investigation into this collision and I am appealing for any witnesses to come forward. I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area at the relevant time and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to check their footage.

“I would like to thank motorists and members of the public for their patience during the road closures, which were necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for an examination of the collision scene.”
