Weldmar Hospicecare move into new headquarters

Trimar House is the new home for Weldmar Hospicecare services in Weymouth, and new charity headquarters.

It is home to Day Services for local patients, and a base for Weldmar Community Nurses in the south of the county, as well as head office functions such as Finance, Fundraising, Retail, Marketing, and People Services.

Trimar House is located in Cromwell Road, and the historic building was first used as a boys school before becoming an infant school, and most recently was the Horizon West family contact centre.

The move has been a year in the making, and sees Weldmar leave Trimar Hospice at Greenhill, and Hammick House in Poundbury.

Day Services will run at Trimar House every Monday, offering stimulating activities, creative arts, and therapies. Jenny Wood, Day Services Lead, says, “It’s going to be really good for the patients, because we are now all on one floor, so access is a lot easier. We also have a really lovely area outside where we can develop our own garden, and with everyone else in the building, there is a bit more of a buzz about the place.”

As well as the Day Services area, Trimar House has a central atrium with tables and chairs, sofas, and a pod, where staff, visitors, and patients can relax or have meetings. There is also a separate board room, and free parking for those who use the building.

Weldmar Hospicecare’s CEO, Caroline Hamblett, says, “I’m so excited about it all. This building has a fantastic feel, it’s in the heart of Weymouth, which is so important to us for our patients and the people we serve, and actually having all our services together with our patients is wonderful. We’ve been able to sell our property at Greenhill, and use the funds to make this building all it needs to be, and we’ll be able to rent out our property in Poundbury which will enable us to do more services, so we can extend our Day Services in Weymouth over the next few months”.

An open evening and open weekend is being arranged for later in the autumn for local people to take a look around Trimar House.
