Flood Alerts: Weymouth Harbour & West Dorset Coast

Flood alerts have been issued by the Environment Agency. Flooding is possible for Weymouth Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Wey. Also Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Seatown, West Bay, Bothenhampton, Burton Freshwater, Burton Bradstock, Cogden Beach, Chesil Beach, West Fleet, East Fleet and Chiswell.

A large tidal surge is expected to affect Weymouth Harbour as a result of high spring tides and strong winds this evening and tomorrow morning 27/11/2019. High water is at around 6:25pm (West Dorset coast)/6:30pm (Weymouth) this evening 26/11/2019 and the morning of 27/11/2019 around 6:45am (West Dorset coast)/6:57am (Weymouth). Flooding to roads, the harbour-side and farmland is expected and may apply two to four hours either side of the high tides.  The Environment Agency are closely monitoring the situation.  Their incident response staff are checking defences and closing gates.  Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued.  This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 27/11/2019, or as the situation changes.
