The Trust, at Dorset County Hospital, has taken the decision to limit patient visiting hours to help reduce the risk of the spread of infection and ensure patient safety.
All wards in the Trust will be restricting visiting hours to between 3pm and 8pm only and limiting visitors to one per patient. Visitors may only stay for a maximum of one hour during each visit. Any exceptions will need to be agreed by the nurse in charge.
In wards where higher level restrictions are necessary, there will be no visitors allowed. Again, any exceptions will need to be agreed by the nurse in charge.
No children under 12 should visit any adult ward without the charge nurse’s prior permission.
No member of the public should use hospital gloves, aprons or masks unless directed to by clinical staff.
Visitors should undertake good hand hygiene and use the gels and sinks in public areas when entering and leaving the hospital site and after any contact with patients.
PAEDIATRIC VISITING
For paediatric admissions, only parents can visit. Siblings should not be brought onto the hospital site, unless in an exceptional circumstance agreed by the nurse in charge.
MATERNITY VISITING
For maternity, only your partner or birthing partner can visit for the duration of your stay. Other family members or friends should not visit the hospital site, unless in exceptional circumstances agreed by the midwife in charge.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Patients should be accompanied by only ONE relative or friend while in the Emergency Department.
