Public Health campaign to support residents’ wellbeing.

Public Health Dorset and LiveWell Dorset are inviting the county to join a wellbeing challenge to take care of our health and wellbeing at this difficult time.

Based on the Five Ways to Wellbeing, LiveWell’s Five Ways Challenge will guide participants through five steps to greater self-care. The challenge will encourage participants to find new ways to connect with others virtually; take notice of the present moment, maintain daily physical activity, learn new skills and give to others.

Topics will include tips for mental and emotional wellbeing including links to local and national resources such as Dorset Mind and Public Health England’s Every Mind Matters toolkit. The campaign includes advice to help children; families, adults, seniors and people with limited mobility to maintain daily activity.

LiveWell will use its Facebook community, virtual training workshops and contact centre to support Dorset’s wellbeing. Campaign resources will be shared with businesses in Dorset to support employee wellbeing.

Working with partners across Our Dorset Integrated Care System, local authority and NHS employees will be invited to join the challenge to strengthen and support those who are working tirelessly to respond to coronavirus.

Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health Dorset said:

“Staying at home is important so that we protect ourselves and others. It’s also important to look after your mental and emotional wellbeing. LiveWell Dorset’s Five Ways Challenge has lots of information on keeping well while you are home.”

Dorset Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care & Health, Cllr Laura Miller said:

“Our physical and mental health is so important. LiveWell’s Five Ways Challenge is just what we need to boost our emotional, physical and mental wellbeing. I’ll take part in the challenge!”
