Latest Dorset Council Cabinet meeting raises questions about finances

Questions continue about whether Dorset Council will eventually have to declare itself ‘bankrupt’ if it doesn’t get more Government funding.

Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting heard that two buildings, one in the east, one in the west, are being handed back to landlords and that a property in Purbeck will be used as a hostel for those who find themselves homeless.

Portland Cllr Paul Kimber asked about how the council was preparing for a projected increase in home repossessions (and with it, possibly, people being homeless).

He was told he’ll get an answer later.
