COVID-19 vaccinations in Dorset – NHS will let you know!

COVID-19 vaccinations in Dorset – be reassured, the NHS will let you know when it is your turn.

People in Dorset are being reassured that the NHS will contact them about the COVID-19 vaccine when it is their turn. Those most at risk in our local communities will be invited to get their vaccination first, in line with national guidance. More people in the high priority groups in Dorset are being invited in to have their COVID-19 vaccinations, as more sites go live.

Please support and be kind to our GP surgeries, hospitals, NHS 111 and other services, by not calling about COVID-19 vaccinations.

Don’t worry if you haven’t heard from them yet, be reassured, the NHS will let you know when it is your turn.

Dr Karen Kirkham, local GP and Clinical lead for the Dorset COVID-19 vaccination programme, and Assistant Clinical Director of NHS Dorset CCG, told KeeP 106: “We understand that there is a lot of interest in the COVID-19 vaccination programme and would like to reassure everyone that we are working extremely hard to deliver vaccines in line with the national guidance, so those people who are most at risk get theirs first.

“We are asking people not to call their GP practice, hospital or 111 to ask when you will get your jab, as you will be approached once it is your turn.

“If you have an appointment and are unable to attend please contact the centre which is providing your appointment as soon as possible so someone else can use your slot – your appointment will be rescheduled.

“NHS services are under great pressure and the best thing you can do to help is to stick to the guidelines and stay at home.”

COVID vaccinations are now being delivered at sites across the county via GP-led community sites and hospital hubs in Dorchester, Poole and Bournemouth. Teams of vaccinators are also vaccinating care home residents.
