Staff at Weldmar Hospicecare receive their Covid-19 vaccinations

Patient facing team members, such as Weldmar Community Nurses, and doctors and nurses based at our Inpatient Unit in Dorchester, have been having their shots over the last few weeks.

Pictured above are some of the IPU team with their vaccination cards.

Caroline Sweetland, Director of Nursing and Infection Prevention and Control, says, “The clinical staff at Weldmar Hospicecare have been very grateful to be offered the Covid vaccination. Staff have felt very fortunate to get vaccinated and it brought a moment of joy amidst all the difficult current situations. Some of the community team saw their colleagues for the first time in months when queuing up for the vaccine … it felt like quite a team reunion (socially distanced of course!).

“Although we still need to ensure all our infection prevention measures are in place being vaccinated has helped staff feel a little more confident when giving direct patient care and then going home to be with family, that the risk of severe Covid infection has been reduced. We look forward to the day when everyone in the county has been vaccinated.”

Weldmar Hospicecare would like to thank the team at the vaccination centre in DCH for doing a great job.
