Billie Rose completes eight marathons during January for Weldmar

She’s raised more than £2,000 this month!

January is typically a month where we promise ourselves we’ll do a bit more exercise and look after ourselves a little better.

Billie Rose Hampshire from Weymouth has taken it to the next level, and completed a walk that was the equivalent distance of eight marathons – 337.56km!

Billie Rose was originally due to take on a trek across New Zealand late last year, in memory of her beloved Granny, Ruth, who was cared for at the Inpatient Unit in 2014, but has had to put this on ice due to Covid-19.

Living in Wyke Regis, she has been clocking up the miles on the Fleet, at Ferrybridge, the Esplanade, Nothe Gardens, and around Portland, and has raised more than £2,000 in sponsorship.

“I feel very emotional” Billie Rose told us, “because the support that I’ve had has been amazing. I’m quite overwhelmed to have raised this amount of money.”

“I’m very happy to have completed this in memory of lots of lovely people, but especially Granny. I just want to say thank you again to everyone at the hospice for the way they looked after her.”

Billie Rose completed her challenge at the Weldmar Inpatient Unit in Dorchester, met by a small number of cheering family and friends.
