The incident, which happened on the B3082 Blandford Road close to the turning for Kingston Lacy, was reported to police at 12.58pm on Wednesday 17 March 2021. It involved a gold-coloured Honda motorcycle.

Officers attended the scene along with the ambulance service. Sadly, the 67-year-old male motorcyclist from Poole died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

Road closures have been put in place to enable emergency services to attend the incident and scene investigators to conduct their examination.

Police Sergeant Craig Tatton, of the traffic unit, said: “We are investigating the circumstances of the collision and I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident to please come forward.

“Also, I would urge anyone who has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please view it to see if they have captured anything relevant that might help our investigation.

“We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place.”
