Weymouth RNLI Inshore lifeboat was launched at 7.50pm on Thursday 25th March 2021 to go to the aid of a speedboat with 4 persons onboard which had broken down approximately ½ mile East of Weymouth Harbour.
The lifeboat was on scene at 8pm and the lifeboat crew quickly established that all those on board were safe and well.
A line was passed and the speedboat was towed to the town slipway at Commercial Rd where the boat had launched from.
The volunteer lifeboat crew advised the speedboat passengers of the dangers of going to sea without wearing lifejackets, no VFH radio and no anchor.
The Coastguard and Police also met the speed boat crew, who had travelled from Andover, and offered further safety advice.
The lifeboat was release at 8.33pm and returned to station where it was refuelled and made ready for the next shout.
