Yesterday, Friday 26th March, emergency teams including the Air Ambulance, Coastguards, Police and Fire Crews descended on the bulk carrier Beks Yilmaz at Portland Port in response to an incident.
It has been reported that a man has sadly died after being found in a vat of grain in a hold of the ship. Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and next of kin and the Coroner have been informed. The Health and Safety Executive are also aware and are making inquiries.
The ship, registered in The Marshal Islands, was built in 2012 and was recently in Teesport and Las Palmas.
With thanks to Geoff Moore of Dorset Media Service for the video below which shows the activity connected with the incident.
