UPDATED: Thousands hit by Power Cut

A main network fault meant power was lost in parts of Weymouth and Dorchester this afternoon at approximately 4.20 (30th March) with over 60,000 customers affected. Engineers were aware and expected power to be restored by 7.30 pm.

Scottish and Southern Networks advised that wide-spread areas had been affected including DT3 and DT4 post code areas. Parts of DT1 and DT2 had also been experiencing sporadic loss. A number of properties in a BH post code area had also been affected.

Residents in Dorchester noticed brief losses and subsequent returns but properties in the Weymouth area were still without Power at 4.45 pm.

As of 6.30pm power had been restored.

Motorists were advised to use caution on approach to junctions since traffic lights were out in some areas according to Travel Dorset.
