Witness appeal following assault involving stabbing in Weymouth

Detectives investigating an assault in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at 2.30am on Monday 31 May 2021 from the ambulance service of a stabbing on Westhill Road near to the junction with Pirates Lane.

It is reported that the victim – a man aged in his 40s – was assaulted by a group of men. He sustained stab wounds that required surgery and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detective Constable Stuart Goatley, of Weymouth CID, said: “A full investigation is underway to identify those responsible and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“The offenders may have left the scene in a dark-coloured car and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have captured either the incident or the vehicle leaving the area on home CCTV systems.

“I would also urge any motorists who were driving in the area to please check their dashcams for any relevant footage to assist my enquiries.”
