Teenage boy bitten by dog in Weymouth

Officers investigating an incident where a teenage boy was bitten by a dog in Weymouth are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The incident occurred at around 1.50pm on Friday 17 September 2021, as the 13-year-old boy walked through an alleyway from Doncaster Road toward the Rodwell Trail.

He walked past a man with a Rottweiler-type dog, which lunged toward him and bit the teenager on the arm.

The bite caused a small wound, but the boy did not require hospital treatment.

The man with the dog is described as white, around five feet eight inches tall and of large build with a bald head and a snake tattoo above one ear. He was wearing a black or dark-coloured T-shirt and used a black rope lead for the dog.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “We are investigating this incident and I am keen to identify the owner of the dog involved so we can take his account.

“I would urge anyone who recognises the dog and owner from the description given, or has any further information that might assist my enquiries, to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55210150650. Alternatively, to stay 100 per cent anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or call Freephone 0800 555 111.
