At around 12.20pm on Monday 11 October 2021 officers received a report from the ambulance service of the sudden death of a man aged in his 50s at an address in Portmore Gardens.

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are being carried out by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).

A post-mortem examination took place on the morning of Tuesday 12 October 2021. The initial cause of death is undetermined and further toxicology tests have been requested.

A man aged in his 20s from Weymouth, who was known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of MCIT, told KeeP 106: “A detailed investigation has been launched and I would appeal to anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact us. At this time the cause of death is not clear, but we are following all lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances.
