Be a Voice for Maternity Services in Dorset

Become a Maternity Voices volunteer and make a difference to maternity services in Dorset

People in Dorset who have used maternity services in the past five years, or who have supported a family to do so, are being invited to apply to become a Service User Representative or Maternity Partnership Chair for the new Maternity Voices Partnership.

Maternity Voices Partnerships are independent working groups, made up of clinicians, service users and other relevant people who work collaboratively to improve maternity services for all.
The opportunity is open to those who are passionate about maternity and neonatal services and who want to shape these services, by representing the voices of the parents and families who access them across the whole of Dorset.

Dorset’s Maternity Voices Lead Representative, Rachel Filmer, told KeeP 106: ‘We are looking for people who have used maternity services in the last five years, or who have supported a family to do so. For example, breastfeeding peer support, antenatal educators, doulas etc. or those who work for related charitable organisations.

I’ve been involved in Dorset Maternity Voices for four years and love being involved in projects that make services better for families. I’ve seen first-hand that our voices and experiences matter. It’s really exciting to be establishing Maternity Voices Partnerships, so that more local families can get involved.

Successful candidates will be supported by Rachel and the maternity team at NHS Dorset CCG.
