Weymouth & Portland centre Ryan Lewendon crossed the Salisbury whitewash 3 times to bank a hat trick of tries for the visitors and he also added a total of 6 conversions to take his personal tally of points to 27 in this one sided Wiltshire v Dorset clash.
Head coach Rich Bament said after the game, “We had the opportunity today to pass the 100 point barrier if we had taken all of the chances that we created, but in the first half we squandered too many scoring chances with poor decision making, in fact although we were well on top from the kick off when 30 minutes of the game had elapsed we had only scored 1 try”.
“But that is being hyper critical, we put it right after the break played some quality flowing rugby and although the score doesn’t really reflect the game overall as Salisbury never gave up despite the mauling they were receiving there are tougher challenges ahead for us”.
Flanker Chris Norton opened the Seasider’s account with a try followed by Lewendon also with a try that fly half Rory Legg converted.
Next across the Salisbury line was prop Tim “Yogi” Comben closely followed by skipper, lock forward Dave Oakesford with Lewendon converting.
On the stroke of half time Lewendon grabbed his second touchdown of the contest that he duly converted to end the first half.
Lewendon began the second period as he had ended the first adding a third try and landing the conversion.
Fellow centre Matt Savage got in on the act touching down with full back Jacob Cummings and scrum half Josh Cameron scoring a try apiece and Lewendon converting Cameron’s effort.
Full time beckoning when Savage grabbed his second try of the afternoon with Lewendon again converting, then as the referee was checking his watch replacement winger Will Quick touched down and Lewendon brought proceedings to a close with his final conversion of the afternoon to end the game.
