Weymouth RNLI lifeboat station’s annual Christmas Bazaar returned to the Pavilion Ocean Room on the 10th November to a record turnout of supporters and helped to raise £1500 for the charity that saves lives at sea.
The Ocean Room was filled with stalls selling everything from cakes to books, jewellery, bric-a-brac, and of course a raffle with a huge amount of donated prizes up for grabs. Then there was a guess the weight of the cake competition and, the star of the show, a raffle for a cake with a lifeboat on it.
Once again, The Dorset Wrecks entertained the crowd with a session of sea shanties.
Teresa Drage, Chair of the Fundraising Team said, “I want to say a huge thank you to our fantastic supporters who have helped us raise just over £1500 for the RNLI.
In particular, I would like to thank Charlotte from Charlie’s Sweet Cakes, for the amazing lifeboat cake she made for the event and then winner of the cake raffle Lorraine Shakespeare who having won it kindly donated it to DCH for the frontline Doctors and Nurses to share.
People and businesses have been so kind in donating the wonderful prizes for the raffle, so on behalf of Weymouth Lifeboat Station, I would like to thank each and every one of them for their donations and support in making the Christmas Bazaar such a success.”
