Update following reported dog bite incident in Weymouth

A man has come forward following an image appeal in relation to a reported dog bite incident in Weymouth.

The incident occurred at around 11.30am on Saturday 9 October 2021 in a field from Littlemoor toward Bincombe.

It is reported that the victim – a local man aged in his 60s – was walking with his wife and their two dogs when a Husky, which is believed to be crossed with an Akita, rushed up behind them and approached one of their dogs, before mounting it.

The victim intervened and was reportedly bitten while trying to separate the dogs. He sustained an injury to his hand that required medical treatment.

Following an image appeal, a man aged in his 30s has come forward and is assisting officers with their enquiries. No arrests have been made.
