‘Santa dive’ raises money for Weymouth Lifeboat station

David Collins, along with his wife Debbie, mother Sylvia and pet dog Ozzy, called at Weymouth RNLI lifeboat station on Tuesday 21st December to hand over a cheque for £873 to Weymouth RNLI Coxswain Andy Sargent.

David, who is the skipper/owner of dive boat Waverider and runs Jurassic Aqua Sports from Lynch Lane Weymouth, organised a ‘Santa Dive’ which took place on the Sunday 12th December.

A full boat of 9 divers, some dressed as Santa or Elves, enjoyed a series of 2 dives off of Portland.

All aboard enjoyed Christmas treats of mince pies and hot chocolate during the day.

A further £85 was raised after the event on Jurassic Aqua Sports Facebook page, bringing the total to £958.

David, who is a keen supporter of the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea, said that he intended to make this an annual event and hoped to get other dive boats involved as well.
