Starting with a special ‘Early Breakfast’ programme from 6am, KeeP 106 kept listeners up to date throughout the day about the effects of Storm Eunice which had a significant impact across Dorset.
Amongst many roads which were blocked by fallen trees were the A37 at Grimstone, the A352 at at Broadmayne, Bridport Rd Dorchester, Redbridge Rd Crossways, Radipole Park Drive Weymouth and Bincleaves Rd Weymouth which was closed at the A354 Wyke due to a hanging branch.
Also in Weymouth a tree came down at the junction of Alexandra Road and Hanover Road which the photos and video below show.
A Near Thing – 20 seconds from disaster!
In the video below, watch carefully and after about 10 seconds a blue car passes along the road at the top right. After another 20 seconds the tree falls. A Near Thing indeed! Thanks to Idris Martin for the video.
Earlier today we spoke to Alexis from electricity supplier, Scottish & Southern Energy Networks (SSEN), who advised what to do if you come across a fallen power cable…
And Kieran Williams spoke to Cllr Graham Carr-Jones, Portfolio holder for Housing, Community Safety and Emergency Planning about Dorset Council’s preparedness for Storm Eunice…
Dislodged and destroyed fence panels have also been an inevitable victim of Storm Eunice as the two photos below show:
