A South Western Ambulance service (SWASFT) vehicle was defaced in Bridport over the weekend. A crew arriving on shift found abusive graffiti along the side and rear of the vehicle.
The Service has said: “This anti-social behaviour is #unacceptable, and rectifying the damage puts an unnecessary burden on NHS resourcing at a time when it is needed the most. We have reported the criminal damage to Dorset Police (crime reference number 55220032796)”
“Ambulance staff face the possibility of violence, assault and aggression every time they start a shift. That’s why SWASFT supports the #WorkWithoutFear campaign launched today by the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives.”
The ambulance was back on the road very promptly, following the hard work of SWAST staff.
One of the crew who turned up for their shift, said on twitter: “Turned up for my shift today, to this… #Unacceptable and has meant this vehicle was unable to respond! Those, like me, who use this vehicle, do so to help and protect others. This act not only prevents this but harms others!”
