Appeal for information following sexual assaults in Weymouth

Officers investigating reports that two teenage boys were touched inappropriately by a man in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that between 11am and 12pm on Thursday 11 August 2022 a 15-year-old boy was riding his bike when he was stopped by a man in an alleyway that runs between Lyndale Road and Walker Crescent. The man hugged the boy and touch him inappropriately.

The boy pushed the man off him and he walked away.

A further report was received that at around 11am the same morning another 15-year-old boy was getting into a car in Dundee Road when a man approached him and touched him inappropriately over his clothing. The man stepped away and the victim was able to close the car door.

The man was described as having grey hair and glasses and was wearing a red polo shirt and shorts.

Police Constable Abi Snelling, of Weymouth police, said: “We have been carrying out enquiries into these reports and have obtained full accounts from both victims.

“Our investigation indicates that these incidents are believed to have involved the same man and we are now appealing to the public for anyone with information to please come forward.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed either incident or who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam, home CCTV or doorbell camera footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220130324. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
