On Sunday 18th September a group of people assembled around the Bandstand in Dorchester’s Borough Gardens to observe a national moment of silence at 8pm in remembrance of The Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Before the silence, the Mayor, Cllr Janet Hewitt gave an introduction, prayers were offered by Pastor Mark Topp, a poem written by the Poet Laureate was read by the Town Crier Alistair Chisholm, musical entertainment was provided by soprano Laura Sharley and an address was given by the Revd Keith McGee. The evening concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
