Only Weymouth’s women’s football team managed to record a victory over the weekend, the senior men’s side went down by 5 goals to 1 away against Eastbourne Borough in their National League South game their sole score coming from Harry Kyprianou.
Dorchester travelled into Devon to play Plymouth Parkway in the 3rd qualifying round of the FC Trophy and lost out by 2 goals to nil finishing the match with only 10 players out on the park following the dismissal of defender Harvy Joe Bertrand who handled the ball in the Magpies goal to prevent it from crossing the line.
In the Wessex league Portland United drew 2 goals each with Fareham at Grove Corner while in the South Western Peninsular League East Bridport were on the receiving end of 6 goals to nil drubbing at Newton Abbott Spurs.
On Sunday the Terras women entertained Stockwood Wanderers and recorded a 3-1 win courtesy of strikes from woman of the match Ruby Clark, 2 and a 3rd rom Shakira Howard-Hachem.
In the rugby Blandford lost at home by 57 points 7 against visiting Yeovil and Swanage and Wareham a xv beat Puddletown at Bestwall Park in a 60-point thriller by 36 points to 33.
Before the match at Eastbourne the Terras announced the signing of 21-year-old Algerian Sami Bessadi who arrived from Braintree Town having spent the first period of the season with the fellow National League South side. He provides another option in center midfield for manager Bobby Wilkinson.
Sami has also spent time at Haringey and Maldon & Tiptree during his career.
On Sunday on Weymouth Beach, Weymouth Lions Club in liaison with Purbeck Motor Cross Club staged their annual Beach Motor Cross event that has been running continually since 1984 apart from Covid lockdowns. Crowds flocked to the esplanade to view the spectacle in 3 classes, Junior Senior and Expert, in total over 300 riders competed on Weymouth’s golden sands.
