Arrests following assault of two teenagers in Weymouth

Officers investigating an incident where two teenagers were reportedly assaulted in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

At around 5.20pm on Saturday 22 October 2022 Dorset Police received a report that a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl had been assaulted by a man and a woman who were known to them on The Esplanade, near to the sand sculptures.

Both victims sustained cuts to their lips.

Following enquiries, a 35-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 26-year-old Weymouth woman have been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They have been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

Police Constable Alice Edgar, of Weymouth police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“In particular, I understand a woman approached the victims and offered them tissues following the incident. I would be keen to speak to this individual as they may have information to assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on mobile phone or dashcam footage.”
