Weekend Sports Report

Weymouth football club crashed out of the FA Trophy at Worthing despite taking an early lead with a goal from Keelan O’Connell they then conceded 4 goals on the bounce before Bradley Ash converted a penalty kick late in the game then eventually going down by 4 goals to 2, so now without any cup or trophy distractions the Terras can focus on improving their National League South status and lift themselves off the foot of the league table and into mid table security.

Dorchester had a week off as their scheduled opposition Hendon were also involved in FA Trophy action.

In the Wessex league Portland United lost 3 goals to nil at home against visitors Horndean whilst in the Dorset Premier league Balti Sports conceded 4 goals either side of the break eventually loosing out by 8 goals to nil at Cranford Avenue against the league leaders Sturminster Newton, (see pictures below) and in the South West Peninsular League East Bridport hosted Torrington at St, Mary’s and with there being no score at half time the Bees tallied up 2 goals in the second half courtesy of strikes from Jack White and recent signing Tom Richardson. The visitors didn’t manage to trouble the score board operator making the final result 2 nil to Bridport.

Weymouth women’s match at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Sunday afternoon against Weston Super Mare has been postponed.

There was no local rugby due to a break in league fixtures.
