To mark Weldmar Hospicecare’s forthcoming 30th anniversary in 2024, the Dorset charity has revealed two incredible Overseas Challenges to raise funds towards the specialist care they provide for adults in the county who are living with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones.
In November 2024, Weldmar will be embarking on a journey to the magical island of Madagascar, and in March 2025, you could be joining them on a trip to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World – Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail.
The challenges provide the opportunity for ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences whilst supporting Weldmar at the same time. In Madagascar, you could be spotting lemurs, exploring the rainforests and other breath-taking landscapes of the island, or you could be surrounding yourself in history and culture as you hike towards Machu Picchu along the Salkantay trail.
Weldmar have been taking supporters on Overseas Challenges across the world since 2013, and have a wealth of experience and knowledge. Clare Ash, part of Weldmar’s Fundraising team, is excited to support trekkers on the upcoming challenges. She said “I have participated in a variety of treks for Weldmar as both a supporter and a leader. The experiences have been amazing, and to know that you are helping to support the valuable services Weldmar provide is extremely rewarding.”
“Our team will support you on every step of your fundraising and training journey, offering training walks, fundraising tips and resources, a support network including previous Overseas Challenge participants, and advice on what to expect on the treks. I would definitely recommend signing up, you won’t regret it!”
The charity will be holding an informal Open Information event where you can find out more about both the Madagascar and Machu Picchu treks. The event will be held from 10am-1pm on Saturday 25th March at their Trimar House headquarters in Cromwell Road, Weymouth.
