Weekend Sports Report

Tom Bearwish and Bradley Ash threw Weymouth Football Club’s senior men’s team a National League South lifeline both scoring a goal apiece at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday against visitors Slough.

Before the game kicked off the Terras were rooted to the foot of the league table but scoring two goals and keeping a clean sheet at the other end Weymouth still have a slim chance of retaining their league status.

A win on Tuesday evening at Taunton and it could all go down to their final game of the season away at Dover next Saturday.

Our man at the match (Big Merve) said “Weymouth did well in the first half not to concede as the Terras could have been two down at half time, but after the re-start it was the Slough keeper who was kept busy and, in the end, it was a good result for Weymouth”.

In the Southern League Dorchester returned to Dorset from London after beating the Met Police by 3 goals to1. There was no score at half time then Lewis Slough opened the Magpies account early in the second half, the Old Bill replied to level the scores at 1 goal each before firstly Shaq Gwengwe and second Matt Neale netted for Dorchester to steal the result.

In the Southwest Peninsular League East Bridport drew one goal apiece at St. Mary’s against Ivybridge, the Bees goal coming from Riley Weedon.
