Man required hospital treatment following assault in Weymouth

Police officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward after a man was assaulted in Weymouth.

At around 10.10am on Monday 17 July 2023 the victim, a man aged in his 20s, was walking through the pedestrian underpass between Corscombe Close and Westham Bridge when he was grabbed around the neck by another man and assaulted.

He sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The offender is described as black, aged in his 20s and around six feet three inches tall with afro-style hair. He was wearing a black Nike tracksuit.

Police Constable Mark Edgar, of Weymouth police, said: “We are conducting a number of enquiries into this assault, and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity in the area around the relevant timeframe.”
